IPKKND to go off-air?

Nothing seems to going right for Star Plus' Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, after Barun Sobti's exit from the show here's another setback for the ardent fans of the show.

Rumors are rife that the popular show is currently under the scanner and might soon bid adieu to its fans.

Sources inform that the channel is contemplating on the decision to pull the show off-air. Iss Pyaar Ko... gained popularity all thanks to its lead pair Barun Sobti-Sanaya Irani. Now, that Barun will be out of the show soon and with an entry of new male lead Viraf, the future of the show looks uncertain.

We also hear that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut TV project Saraswati Chandra might replace Iss Pyaar Ko...

We tried contacting, Producer Gul Khan but she remained unavailable.

He’s gone!

He came like the wind, made us fall in love with him and his onscreen character and finally today Barun Sobti the man who made Arnav Singh Raizada an ICONIC television character finally bid goodbye to the show.

Well Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is not going to be the same anymore now that Barun has bid adieu to the show. He breathed life into a character that was initially just on paper, making it one of the most popular, huge and magnificent characters ever, one that can never be erased from the memories of millions of viewers all over the globe.

Today on his last day of shoot our TellyTadka reporter Sheetal got a chance to meet the Actor who made ASR possible. TT brings you a small excerpt about the happenings on the sets and Barun’s answers to some casually asked question apart from the “Exclusive Video Interview”

Location: IPK Sets (Raizada Manion), Kandiwali (West)

Clad in a black 3 Piece Suit which is the basic essential ASR look, Barun Sobti was shooting (Close-up Shots) with Sanaya’s Body Double for an upcoming sequence. Completely in character Barun as ASR is trying hard to make Khushi that she would have to do things she has never done before for the Mrs. India Pageant as it was a contest requirement.

While this was the scenario infront of the Camera, of screen Barun is the total opposite of ASR. He is a full on “Mastikhor” and one of the most Jovial person on the sets. He was hanging out with everybody be it the director-Lalit Mohan or the cinematographer- Hrishikesh Gandhi, the production team, the crew members in short everybody.

When rehearsing or when in between shots Barun was seen either singing or munching on some snacks with his team members of course. Barun was really enjoying every bit of his last day of shoot, his last day on the sets of IPK and was seen having a ball. Also whenever he got time he sat down to check out the gifts, cards, Message albums etc sent to him.

On asking Barun what he felt about today being the last day of his shoot he smiled and said he does not know what it was that he actually fell, that he could not put it in words, but since it was his last day he wanted to enjoy every moment on the sets with the people who he has been associated with for the past 1 and ½ year, who is more like a family. He said he would miss his co-stars and all the masti they used to have on the sets. Barun chose not to comment anything about the new entry Viraf Patel when asked.

It’s kinda impossible to replace ASR because of the stature to which it was built, but it’s impossible to show ASR dead or vanished or kidnapped (again) which paves way for a really interesting and intriguing question as to what will be the fate of ASR but more on that later.

TellyTadka will always try and keep in touch with Barun Sobti whether or not he is a part of the show. We love him and the hard work and dedication he has put into make ASR an iconic character and will continue to do so.

Stay connected as we bring you an exclusive video interview of the phenomenal Barun Sobti soon. Keep an eye out for this in our TT Video Segment.

Khushi enters the second round of Mrs. India in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon!

With the desire of proving herself, Khushi (Sanaya Irani) had decided to try her luck in Mrs. India competition which she thought would help her in getting the right path. And as seen in the last couple of episodes of Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, she has been trying her best to cope up with the new task.

The whole family is aware of Khushi taking part in the event except for Arnav (Barun Sobti), who is a little skeptical, worrying what is Khushi up to this time. Initially, Khushi was a bit reluctant about taking part in the same but with the family standing up for her support, she took the first step.

To her luck, she cleared level one of the competition successfully and is now to enter level two. However, this time things won’t be easy as she and the other participants have been asked to put up an act before the sponsors of the show.

Sources say that as the owner of AR designs, Arnav might be one of the sponsors of the big event. And if this happens then Khushi’s secret won’t be hidden from him for long.

Now it would be interesting to see who the sponsors and will Khushi be able to clear this round too like the way she did the first one!

Thank You Barun! by Rangmunch.tv

Do you guys also converse in Question and Answer format Barun asked us during one of our interactions after an interview! More often than not, Barun would leave us lost for words with his interesting interactions and enthusiasm!

Witty, Intelligent and ever smilling Barun Sobti undoubtedly added an edge to the character of Arnav Singh Raizada that no one person possibly could have...

As the actorexits from the popular daily Iss Pyaar Ko Kyaa Naam Doon, we would like to thank him for making the story real for many of his viewers...!

Most often Barun would be so overwhelmed by the response he would receive he would be left with very few words to express his gratitude!

We know, we will meet again, some other time, some other place, where he plays someone else... ! But for now, bidding a farewell with heavy heart is nevertheless not so easy!

Thank You Barun!

Arnav and Khushi are funny indeed!

Our sociable feathered friend was lying low on a branch once when it spotted two bent heads bobbing with laughter. The heads looked familiar and our birdie got curious, as usual of course.

On nearing the site, it discovered that it has arrived on the sets of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Mmm, so whom did these heads belong to? Surprise, surprise, to the hottest telly couple Arnav and Khushi who were laughing their hearts out! Our birdie in no time got busy digging out the reason behind their mirth. Our darling Arnav, it seems, plays a lot of pranks on the sets. Along with Akash, he selects any newcomer and plays practical pranks. And he claims that everyone falls for their pranks. Must be an accomplished prankster, birdie noted to get some tips later. Arnav is admired by everyone who surrounds him. Once he was walking and eating on the sets, a crew member came up and said to him that he has never seen anyone like Arnav. Lover boy was taken aback and quite touched. Kya karein, his charisma enamours all.

Apparently, the guys make noises, sing songs, and mimic others while on the sets. Arnav whispered that he is found either in Khushi’s room or Anjali’s. Hmm, so that is why, these women seem so fond of him. Ask Khushi what’s her poison, and she says with glee that laughter it is! She can’t seem to stop laughing once she starts. And who is to be blamed, none other than our laad governor. Just before she has to give a shot, ASR will crack a joke, and our Khushi will burst out laughing. Since he is used to the fact now that she cannot shoot a scene while shaking with hilarity, he will obligingly close his eyes, so she can give the shot and be saved from the Director’s ire.

One funny incident that our prospective Mrs India recalls is when she slapped Arnav for a scene and there was a loud resonance. She was sure that she had not hit him hard but the sound made everyone feel worried whether apna Arnav is hurt. Khushi was stunned but then ASR’s much coveted smile reassured the team that all was well. Phew, saved by the smile they were!

Barun Sobti – The Heartbreaker, Groundbreaker

The latest to join the list of hotties on a “break mode” is Barun Sobti.  Sobti, with his gorgeous good looks, brilliantly expressive eyes and impeccable acting talent, has emerged as one of the most popular actors on Indian television in recent times. Fans of the show just can’t live with the fact that he is detaching himself from his show, ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?’

Often known as television’s ‘King of romance,’ Barun Sobti has often been compared to Bollywood’s King Khan, Shah Rukh. Both have similar trajectories in that they are both from Delhi and arrived in Mumbai with no godfather.  With sheer determination and on screen charisma, both have had the hearts of women of all ages fluttering. Sobti, like SRK is known to be shy and a poet at heart. Affable and straight forward, they are also media favorites.

After he announced that he was planning a “longish break” from Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, his millions of fans in a state of panic and heartbreak reportedly are deluging the production house and Star Plus with requests to retain the actor in the show and end it on a high note. It forced them to respond through interviews and even the channel, which reportedly does not deal directly with the starts sat down with Sobti to see what could be done, but for reasons unclear, the actor has decided to ease his way out.

What fans have understood so far: Sobti signed up for the show for a year.  At its conclusion he went on to shoot for a Bollywood film, Main Aur Mr Right, for which he wanted a break of 40 days from the show.  Gladly accommodating him, the script was tweaked so this could be done.  With an eye on the cash register which was ringing loud, Sobti was convinced to stay on longer.

For Sobti, being Arnav Singh Raizada, the loving brother, ruthless biz tycoon and man in love for one and half years isn’t an easy job, because it meant shooting 12-14 hours, month round.  A visibly tired looking Sobti has put down his papers stating that he needs a break, take care of his health, as he has been working for a long time now. He wants to spend time with his family, especially his wife, Pashmeen.

Fans have taken his move personally and reports say that never before has a channel had to deal with the loss of an actor with calls coming from around the world. While every girl and woman watching the show has imagined themselves in the arms of the Arnav Singh Raizada played by Sobti, there is little doubt that while he may not have signed on for a film before leaving the show, Bollywood awaits him and fans will keep hearing from him in the days and years ahead.

Will Viraf Phiroz Patel be accepted by Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon fans as a replacement for Barun Sobti?

The telly world has been abuzz with fiery discussion and protests from fans worldwide as Barun Sobti, who immortalized Arnav Singh Rayzada of Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, decided to opt out of the daily. As a replacement the makers have got in Viraf Phiroz Patel of Mahiway and Kismat fame. Do you think he will strike a chord among the masses? Will his chemistry with Sanaya Irani do wonders as was the case with Barun?

Barun’s exit will affect TRPs: Sanaya Irani

Though her co-actor Barun Sobti has decided to quit the popular television show in which they are paired opposite each other, actor Sanaya Irani says she will continue with the show. She admits that the TRPs will be affected, but she will take things as they come.

"He is a good friend and a great co-actor. I will definitely miss Barun on the show," says Sanaya aka Khushi of the television show. The couple's chemistry is the USP of the show and fans were disappointed when news of Barun's decision to quit broke. "I know that our fans will be disappointed with Barun's exit. But this is part and parcel of the show. When a soap runs for 5-6 years, actors are often replaced. It will affect the TRPs but I believe in taking things as they come. Nothing much can be done about it," she adds.

As the two actors shared an amazing rapport on the sets, will it be difficult to work with a new actor? "I hope the new actor is someone cool so that I can develop a good rapport with him," she says. According to sources, Viraf Phiroz will be the new man on the show. "I have heard about Viraf but don't know him personally. I haven't met him officially on the sets till now. Let's wait and watch," she says.

Overnights: ‘Iss Pyaar Ko..’ tops Star Plus UK ratings

‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ has emerged as the most watched Hindi drama serial in the UK by clocking up the highest ratings over the past few days on Star Plus.

‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’, which has been under the spotlight recently due to its lead Barun Sobti taking an extended break from the show as ‘Arnav’, topped the channel’s ratings most of last week and last night too.

The show, last night (19th November) got 154,000 – peaking at 170,600 during its 20:00 – 20:30 slot. That was more than ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behnaa Hai’, which remains its closest rival. The show delivered 137,700. New show ‘Mujhse Kuch Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyan’ is doing well for the channel too – it last night was in third place with an audience of 121,200.

Star TV UK has been preparing for its Star Parivaar Live show, which takes place in Birmingham, UK this weekend.

Above data is an overnight rating – and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.

CONFIRMED? Barun Sobti quits Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

After speculation about Barun Sobti’s exit from the hit TV show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Suzana Ghai, head of fiction – programming, Star Plus, goes on record. “Yes Barun has quit the show. We tried to persuade him not to, but he has chosen to move on.” Will Viraf Firoz Patel be the
new Arnav? “He might not be. And I can’t talk about it,” says Ghai.

About the show (Courtesy: Wikipedia): Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon premiered on June 6, 2011 on Star Plus. The show has consistently maintained a position as one of the top ten daily soaps on Indian general entertainment channels throughout its first year on air.

Will this daily soap be the same wthout the original Arnav Singh Raizada?

Interview with female lead
Sanaya Irani might play coy roles on TV, but she is known to be arrogant, rude and difficult. Riding on the success of her hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Sanaya talks about her co-star Barun Sobti quitting the show and how her success has not affected her relationship with boyfriend Mohit Sehgal.

Hindustan Times: What do you think of your image as a difficult person?
Sanaya Irani: I have heard that, but I am not a difficult person. People who know me would laugh if they read that I was arrogant. I don’t need to prove that to anyone. I am working long hours and I am in every shot (in the serial). I am a simple person who leads a simple life. When people try to make me more than I am, that puts me in a shell which people think is rude.

Hindustan Times: But that’s part of what comes with being a star.
Sanaya Irani: Yes I know, but that doesn’t mean I have to be cool with it. I love acting and I didn’t become an actor for fame or money. I want people to not bother me. Yet I get the point of fans, who want autographs and photographs regardless of the fact that I am eating or relaxing with friends. I try to make them happy but I also hope that they understand me.

Hindustan Times: What do you think of your character Khushi?
Sanaya Irani: As an actor, I needed growth and I knew this role would be different from Gunjan in Miley Jab Hum Tum. I found it hard to play the simple Gunjan as I am a complete psycho in real life. Later, I wondered if I would be able to break out of it. When I got the role of Khushi, I was worried whether I could do it well. As my Hindi is weak and Khushi is a fast talker with chaste Hindi, the role helped me explore everything as an actor.

Hindustan Times: What is your reaction to the news that Barun is quitting the show?
Sanaya Irani: I don’t know about it. Obviously, it will be a big loss to the show, but I believe life goes on. If Barun has taken this decision, it will be for his good. I think no one should get negative about it, right from the audiences to the team.

Hindustan Times: There are rumours that the show might end after he leaves.

Sanaya Irani: I have been hearing the same rumours but I think it is speculation.

Will Viraf Phiroz Patel win over the audience like Barun Sobti did?

20/11/12  The makers of the popular daily soap have confirmed that Barun is indeed quitting the show, apparently to find work in films. Good luck to him!

While we are still upset that the hottie Barun Sobti is leaving Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, the makers have found a way to lift our spirits by roping in Viraf Phiroz Patel of Mahiway and Kismat fame for the role.

There is no doubt that Viraf will set our hearts racing, ‘coz he looks ‘oh-so-hot’ and sexy. The actor was last seen in Sony TV’s Mahiway as one of the leads and then in Kismat, where he captivated the audience with his suave looks and brilliant performance. Anyone and everyone who has seen these shows will certainly agree with us. But will he be able to deliver in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Will he and Sanaya Irani (Khushi Kumari Gupta) be able to evoke the same chemistry that Barun brought to the small screen? Now that’s something we’ll be able to answer only after we see them together.

Arnav Singh Raizada, who is an intense and complicated character, is arrogant and showcases very little of his romantic side. And that’s exactly what made him so adorable, no? His equation with Khushi initially bordered on love-hate until he came out of his shroud of denial and decided to marry her. Since then, the romance between them has made audiences go gaga. Giving Arnav a new face is a bold decision in terms of TRPs, as many ardent followers have complained and threatened to quit watching the show.

We think that Viraf is probably the best replacement for Barun. Giving him the benefit of doubt, we believe that Viraf will indeed raise the bar of the show. And just in case it doesn’t work, they can always end Iss Pyaar…, right?

Star Plus Fiction Head Suzana Ghai talks on Barun Sobti quitting IPKKND

Ever since Tellychakkar.com broke the news about Barun Sobti planning to quit Star Plus’ hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, the channel kept a mum on the issue. It was only the production house (IMRC Entertainment and 4 Lions Films) and the concerned actors who repeatedly kept issuing denials about the same. But eventually it was the channel which tweeted that Barun decided to quit for good. This timely declaration came after we again broke the news that Viraf Phiroze Patel might replace Barun as the new man in Khusi’s life (Sanaya Irani).

Later Barun did concede that he was leaving but again with a caveat that it was a long leave. In this scenario Tellychakkar.com spoke to Suzana Ghai, Head of Fiction – Programming, Star Plus, about the same and she said, “Barun has been extremely popular because of Iss Pyaar Ko, however the new actor may not necessarily replace him. We have a story planned and would wait for that to unfold on air.”

We then asked her about the possible impact on the show and its popularity post Barun quitting. Angry fans have threatened via mails (we also received similar mails) that they would stop watching the show if their favourite man leaves. They also want Star Plus to stop Barun from throwing in the towel. To which, Suzana replied, “We have always maintained that a character is bigger for us. An actor is important in setting up the character of course, but people connect and relate more to characters than only actors. ”

Her confidence may be stemming from the fact that even before the channel has successfully changed the lead actors of major shows, the most recent example being Devoleena Bhattacharjee who replaced Giaa Maanek in Saath Nibhana Saathiya. The show’s number actually went up post the change.

But the story does not end here for the buzz goes that the channel might use Viraf only as a stop gap arrangement before eventually pulling the plug on Iss Pyaar Ko. After a superb run its numbers has been dipping. Rumuors of the show shutting down have also been doing the rounds since a while. Suzana did not reply to our question on possibility of the same.

Let’s see what unfolds from here.
