'Being Sobtian' - A review

'Being Sobtian' authored by Tanvi Dutia, is an autobiographical account of the trials and tribulations of fans in the Sobtian fandom. With consent from Miss Dutia we post below a brief review of 'Being Sobtian' by a reader, who was granted a preview of the book.

They say 'don't judge a book by its cover', which means you shouldn't prejudge the worth of something by its outward appearance alone, but looking at the cover of #BeingSobtian you are bound to judge what might be inside, and trust me in all the good ways you can possibly think of.

When we read a book, we are enticed to put in all of our imagination, this is much like writing the book as well as it is like living it. With all honor & pleasure I'd say this book does it all for its readers, especially The Sobtians.
The title thought out by Tanvi, explains the tale of the book. It also tells the reader what they will read in the book once it is open to the eyes.
#BeingSobtian creates an instant connection with the man in whose honour this book has been dedicated, the one and the only Mr. Barun Sobti. While the title promises the fans a lot, it is with extreme pleasure I say it absolutely delivers everything and much more then what a Sobtian might imagine.
The book flew open & I fell in the world of the 'Sobtian Fandom World'. From the very first chapter to the last it was like a journey, a journey that was inspirational yet full love and warmth. It was an uniquely portable magical ride that transfers you in the world of fandom and their experience not to mention the situations they go through when being the loyal fans of Mr. Sobti that they are.
Everything written by the Tanvi gives you a sense of tranquility.Penned down were every single emotion a fan feels and goes through when they truly honor and respect the person they decide to dedicate their time and energy to. She knew very well that flattery only does not encourage the perfect flow of love in the vein of any relationship, even if it is a star and a fan relationship. Being genuine and speaking out what you really feel without hiding the painful truth always connects and gives you an insight of how real the love of a fan is for their beloved star.
Tanvi expressed very profoundly how true love doesn't make demands,It only loves and believes in giving lots and lots with the purest of intentions. The author in every line has conveyed how she herself as well as all of the million fans Mr. Sobti has around the world, feel for him in the most purest and honest way possible.
As William Styron said, 'A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.'
Truth to be told, this book actually lets you live and experience the lives of all of Barun fans, because it almost sums up everything they feel from when he is around and also when they go through the famous 'Sobti Drought'.
We read all kinds of articles, hear all interviews and see all kinds of shows or movies related to the man whom we're obsessed and devoted too as a fan. We all know fame is not so impossible for people with charisma, passion and talent, being famous just means the person have fans, but for Barun both things are in abundance. Just because he exhibits such brilliance not only for the actor he is but also for the person he is from inside out. He's someone who is extremely special to his fans or 'His People' as he likes to call them. In the end, all that matters is that both sides are loyal and this is all that we need to be immortalized.
Reading Tanvi's books was my escape, my comfort, my consolation, my impetus of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful serenity that surrounded me when I could actually hear her words echoing in my head as a honest and loyal Sobtian. This review is but just a gist of what you can expect from this book, I would definitely say that it is something that you should experience yourself.
Tanvi, you have done a Splendid job as your first ever writing experience. I have full faith that Barun and all his loyal fans will absolutely love what you wrote with your heart and soul. I can proudly say I know a fandom who is so Loyal for their Hero/Star and gives him all the love and support that he deserves and much more, always.
As much as Sobtians are lucky to have Barun, I'm very sure Barun is as lucky to have fans like Tanvi and every other Sobtian in this Fandom. It's a very humble and honest connection which I'm sure can't be expressed in words more like, 'Iss Pyaar ko Kya Naam Doon?'
But after reading this book I'm sure each one of the you can proudly say, 'I'm just Being Sobtian!'
