I am very happy with the production house, says Barun Sobti

Barun Sobti aka Arnav Singh Raizada of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon has decided to quit television for now. Are there creative differences with the makers or does he just want to focus on films?

"I am planning to take a break. I am very happy with the production house, but have been thinking about taking a break for a very long time now," he says. The actor had taken a short break from the show a couple of months ago to shoot for a Bollywood film. At that point too there were reports that he would be quitting television to pursue a career in Bollywood. The storyline of the serial had then been tweaked to include a track where his character was kidnapped.

Sources say that Viraf Phiroz will be the new man on the show. Viraf, who has been seen in serials like Mahi Way and Kismat, refused to comment on the issue. All he says is: "I cannot talk right now. There are a few things in the pipeline but I can only talk about it post Diwali. People who are taking the decisions are on leave."

We're quite sure that fans of Barun and Sanaya Irani, his co-actor in the serial, will be disappointed as the two share a great chemistry. But, mention this to Barun and he says, "If my fans love me, they will understand."

The soon to go off-air drama ‘Pratigya’ at 22:30 was lagging behind with 89,600. Another drama not doing so well in the UK is ‘Ruk Jaana Nahi’, however, still a decent enough audience for an early primetime slot. The drama averaged at 35,000 – peaking at 49,500 on Tuesday night.

Above data is an overnight rating – and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.

Daljeet Bhanot reasons why she stayed back in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon!

We have already talked about how Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon has been stuck in a quagmire of actors quitting the daily every now and then.

It all started with Daljeet Kaur Bhanot aka Anjali quitting the show. She plays the male lead Arnav aka Barun Sobti’s sister. While the rumors of her leaving the show were in air, it was stated that Daljeet was not happy with her part as an actor. However, it all seems to have come to an end with the lady deciding to continue with Iss Pyaar Ko.

She says that when she had signed the show, it was titled Didi Ki Sauten where her character was supposed to be the lead.  Daljeet stated, "When the shooting began, the title was changed to Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. But I was promised that the story would revolve around me, Arnav and Khushi (Sanaya Irani). In between, I felt the story was deviating and so I decided to quit. But after several talks with the producers and the channel, I was informed that I would be the soul of the show. So I decided to stay back”.

For those unaware, she is married to TV actor Shaleen Bhanot. They tied the knot in 2009 when she was at the peak of her career. But has a thought that marriage cannot affect an actor's popularity. "We met on the sets of Kulvadhu and after dating for three years, decided to take the plunge. I don't think marriage can affect your popularity. At the end of the day, you should have someone to share your joys and excitement with," she says.

Well, we hope you remain firm on your decision concerning the show this time!
