"I was not offered Chhanchhan!" says Barun Sobti

The excitement in the air was evident as fans of Barun Sobti got an opportunity to interact with him at a meet and greet session organised by the People Choice Magazine.

TellyBuzz got a chance for an exclusive chat with the talented and handsome Barun Sobti who left a mark in the television industry with Gul Khan's popular daily soap Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? on Star Plus which ended last year in November, on his upcoming projects, his journey in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, his films and much more.

Let's have a look on what he said.

Will we see you back on television?
I am very much caught up right now on the projects that I already have in hand. So most probably when I am done with all the project work that I have taken the responsibility of working on, than I will think about television.

Tell me something about your movie?
My movie Mai Aur Mr. Right is going to be releasing in September this year. I am playing the character of a wannabe actor and his struggle to be big. It was great shooting for the film and I am looking forward to its release and the feedback of the audience towards my film.

Your further projects?
Well I have another movie in my bag, for which I will be start shooting from 28th of this month. I am full of energy and looking forward for the shoot.

How was your journey in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
I was very happy to see that the show is doing very good. Like every other actor would feel for the show he is part of is doing great on Indian Television, I felt the same. The journey was very good and I made really good friends on the sets of the show.

Do you miss Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
Yes, definitely I miss the show as I had been shooting for it for long, one and a half year. You get attached to the team when you work with people for so long. But the fact that it was a popular show that makes me happy.

Have you seen Chhanchhan? How do you find Sanaya's performance in the show?
Yes, I have seen Chhanchhan. Its a good show and Sanaya Irani as we all know is a very good actor. She is doing great in this show too.

There was a buzz that you were approached for Chhanchan, is it true?
Well, I was not offered the show. Rumors keep on circulating all the time. I too had heard about the same, but I was not offered the show.

Which other television shows do you watch?
Honestly, I don't get much time to watch television but I have seen few episodes of Chhanchan. Its IPL season so mostly if I get time I catch up on the cricket match.

Will you be able to create the same mark in Bollywood as you did in Television?
I don't know whether I will be able to make the same mark or not but I hope that I do so.

There are many television actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Amith Sadh among others who have made a name for themselves in films too, do you think you can do the same? Have you interacted with them or taken any tips?
Well, I don't know them personally and so I haven't interacted with them so far. I have seen their performance in Kai Po Che which was really good and I hope them all the luck further too.

Why don't we see you on any social networking sites?
I am not at all an electronic person. I am too lazy to reply to the messages that I get, so if I start using social networking sites then it would be really bad to see the fans who will get hurt when I don't reply. So I find better to stay away from the social networking sites.

How did acting happen to you?
It was very much unplanned that I would take up acting as my career. Few of my friends were actors and they told me to try my luck in acting too. They believed that I would be able to do good in this field. So I got my portfolio clicked which was forwarded to the channel people by my friends and they liked the pictures and that's how I landed into acting.

If you wouldn't be an actor you would be?
I would be working in some office (laughs). But I would love to be a football coach or a physical trainer in any school. I love sports very much.

Do you watch IPL?
Yes, of cource I watch IPL. It is something not to be missed.

Which team do you support and why?
I love Mumbai Indian's team as it has Sachin Tendulkar who is my favorite cricketer.

Describe yourself in one sentence?
A very simply guy.

A quote for your fans?
Thank you for watching and following the stuff that I do, it makes me feel good when I get to hear about my work from the viewers. I am really thankful to them on liking the things that I do.
